Bupa Symposium Green Routes & Nature Breaks
Creating Nature Break and Green Connections guidebooks for symposium delegates to promote wellbeing and restoration for both in-person and virtual attendees

Purpose
Bupa has a focus on promoting healthy, sustainable and nature connected urban environments to support healthier lifestyles. At their annual Symposium, the year’s theme is “Healthcare Connected” and there is an emphasis on how our environments affect our behaviour, health and mind. The Bupa team asked Tranquil City to create two delegate guides, one finding restorative ‘Green Connections’ to the symposium venue, and a second helping virtual delegates to take a moment in nature as part of their day. Each activity is part of an experiment to measure the effect these activities have on their wellbeing.
Approach
Create a series of ‘green connection’ routes to/from the venue from major transport hubs and Bupa’s London office.
Create a Nature Break guide of simple, accessible, yet impactful steps to improving nature connection nearby to the home, whether that’s a garden, nearby green space or balcony.
Produce two guides that help delegates explore healthy urban environments and integrate into the symposium website, including an interactive web viewer.
Conduct a study to evaluate experiences of the activities and the impact they have on their wellbeing, nature connection and productivity.
